Let’s stop pretending you don’t hear it. That nudge. That ache. That idea that refuses to die.

You can build businesses. Raise families. Show up. Smile. Perform competently like a professional. And still feel it. That quiet voice saying, this isn’t all of you.

So I’ll ask you directly: What have you been called to do?

Not what looks responsible. Not what keeps everyone comfortable. Not what earns polite applause. What have you been called to do?

The Calling You Keep Negotiating With

A calling doesn’t shout. It lingers. It shows up when you see another woman doing something bold, and you feel that flicker of jealousy, not because you want her life, but because she’s living hers. It shows up when you say, “One day…” It shows up when you over-explain why now isn’t the time.

You don’t ignore your calling because you’re lazy. You ignore it because it will change everything. And change requires exposure.

The Cost of Ignoring What You’re Meant to Do

Let me tell you the truth: No one says out loud: Playing small is expensive.

It costs you confidence. It costs you energy. It costs you peace. Unexpressed gifts turn into frustration.
Silenced stories turn into heaviness. Suppressed ambition turns into resentment.

And here’s the part that stings: When you don’t answer your call, you model silence for the next generation. That’s not dramatic. That’s legacy.

You Weren’t Given That Idea by Accident

The business idea that won’t leave you alone. The book you keep saying you’ll write. The stage you secretly want to stand on. The conversation you’re terrified to start.

You weren’t given that for decoration. You were given it because you can carry it. Most women are waiting to feel “ready.” Ready is a myth.

Clarity doesn’t come before movement. Clarity comes because of movement.

What If the Call Is Bigger Than You?

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Your calling is rarely about you.

It’s about the woman watching you. The daughter listening to you. The client needing you. The stranger who will one day say, “I thought I was alone until I heard you speak.”

When one woman answers her calling, she creates oxygen in the room for others. And rooms need oxygen.

Stop Asking for Permission

You don’t need:

  • More certifications.

  • Another year of research.

  • Universal approval.

  • Everyone to understand.

You need courage. And courage is built in motion, not in hiding. You already know what you’ve been called to do. You just keep softening it to make it more acceptable. Don’t. If it feels too big, too bold, too uncomfortable, good. That’s usually how truth feels at first.

The Real Question

It’s not, “Am I capable?” It’s this: How much longer are you willing to betray your own potential? Because that’s what playing small becomes after a while. Not humility. Not practicality. Betrayal. Your life is not meant to be edited down to something digestible. It is meant to be lived out loud.

So I’ll ask you one more time: What have you been called to do? And when are you finally going to answer?
